Another 635 PNP candidates in the Express Entry system have been invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence.
On September 1, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held its most recent draw.
Because all candidates had a provincial nomination of 600 points in the Express Entry pool, the minimum score cutoff was 764.
The highest number of points a candidate can earn is 1,200.
The deadline for those who scored below the cutoff was April 12, 2021 at 12:21:45 UTC.
IRCC publishes the tie-breaker for every draw, whether or not there was a tie in the first place.
Candidates who have been invited to apply for permanent residency now have 60 days to do so.

Backlog in Express Entry Application Processing
It’s now late summer 2021, and IRCC has only invited PNP and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates so far, unlike last year during the pandemic.
While IRCC is working to complete applications for CEC candidates who applied in January, Express Entry candidates from other programs may face delays.
According to the IRCC website, this is due to a lack of capacity to process these applications.
As of March 26, IRCC removed the progress indicator on all Express Entry applicants’ online accounts.
Candidates can still visit the “Details about application status” area for up-to-date information on the progress of their application.
Express Entry invitations almost double 2020 levels
The number of Invitations to Apply (ITAs) granted by IRCC has virtually doubled year over year.
IRCC has issued out 106,414 ITAs so far in 2021.
With more invitations, the IRCC is more likely to meet its 2021 objective of 108,500 newcomers under the Express Entry system.
Due to the nature of CEC and PNP-only draws, the minimum score criteria have fluctuated.
Because CEC drawings are limited to a single group of applicants, the cutoffs are usually lower.
In the Federal Skilled Worker Program, for example, they are not competing with others.
As a result, larger draw sizes allow IRCC to invite more candidates, lowering the score.
With their provincial nomination, PNP candidates automatically receive 600 points, hence PNP drawings will always be larger than any other sort of Express Entry draw. Since June, PNP draws have fluctuated from the low 740s to the high 760s.
What is Express Entry?
Express Entry is a points-based system for managing immigration applications for the three Federal High Skilled programs, which include the:
- Canadian Experience Class,
- Federal Skilled Worker Program,
- and Federal Skilled Trades Program.
You will be awarded a score based on the Comprehensive Ranking System if you are eligible for an Express Entry-managed program (CRS).
The CRS assigns points based on a variety of factors, including skilled work experience, age, education, official language skills, and others.
The CRS is out of a possible 1,200 points. Except for PNP candidates, who receive an automatic 600 CRS points for receiving a provincial nomination, the vast majority have fewer than 500 points.
During regular rounds of invitation, IRCC invites the highest scoring candidates to seek for permanent residency.

How To Apply For Express Entry
If you want to apply for Express Entry, below are the steps to follow:
Step 1: Find out if you are eligible
Many interested candidates do not always know whether they are eligible for the program. To find out your eligibility status, check our resource page.
Step 2: Get your documents ready
You need to put all your documents together to apply for Express Entry.
You may need documents, such as language test results (e.g IELTS), to show that you are eligible for Express Entry.
Some documents take a long time to get, so you should start planning on getting them ready now.
Step 3: Submit your profile
After getting your documents ready, your next step is to open a valid Express Entry profile.
This profile enables you to give detailed information about yourself.
If you are eligible, IRCC will accept you into the pool of candidates.
You will be ranked in the Express Entry pool using a points-based system.
Your score is based on the information provided in your profile.
Step 4: Receive an invitation and apply for permanent residence
IRCC sends invitations to apply to the candidates with the highest scores in the pool.
If you are successful, you will receive an invitation to apply, where you are given 90 days to submit your application for permanent residence.
Ensure you submit all supporting documents to enable the immigration department to process your application.
Processing time for Express Entry usually takes 6 months or less.
Once your application is approved and successful, you will receive confirmation of permanent residence (COPR) from IRCC.
With your COPR, you can complete your landing process in Canada.

What is the average processing time for Express Entry Canada?
Express Entry is a program that allows people to enter Canada quickly.
The full procedure may take six months, or even less, for eligible candidates who receive an invitation to apply (ITA) immediately after entering the pool and then quickly submit a comprehensive application.
The following variables, however, may cause this timeline to be extended and should be considered:
Firstly, while some candidates are invited shortly after entering the Express Entry pool, others may obtain an ITA until months later or not at all.
These depend on their CRS score and CRS cut-off thresholds in Express Entry draws.
Secondly, some invited candidates may be ready to apply for immigration to Canada shortly after receiving their invitation, while others may require more time than the 60 days provided.
While the IRCC seeks to complete applications in six months, some applications may take longer, and some decisions on other applications may be made sooner.
