Largest BC PNP Draw Ever Invites 527 Candidates In Express Entry, Skills Immigration Streams

British Columbia government sent out 527 Invitations In Largest BC PNP Draw of 2019. The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program released a sum of 551 invitations to Express Entry, Skills Immigration, and Entrepreneur applicants in a draw conducted on August 20, 2019.

This draw has sent out the largest number of invitations in the history of the BC PNP since its launching on February 2017.

527 of the invitations were released to applicants applying through the Skilled Worker and Express Entry BC streams, Eighteen (18) were sent out through the Entrepreneur Immigration Base Class and another six (6) through the Entrepreneur Immigration Regional Pilot program.

The Skills Immigration stream for skilled and semi-skilled workers whose occupations are listed in high demand in British Colombia province.

The Express Entry BC category is for those applicants with a valid profile in the Express Entry federal pool. It is meant to streamline the process for those skilled individuals that meet the B.C. requirements and who intend to settle in B.C.

The Entrepreneur streams both exist to help business owners receive permanent residency in B.C., provided that they have a high personal capital investment and they can efficiently manage and invest in a B.C. business.

BC PNP streams are run under B.C.’s Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS). In order to apply through the SIRS, qualified applicants are first required to register an account, then they are allotted a score based on factors like age, work experience, educational qualifications and language proficiency.

In the first BC draw, invitations to apply were sent out to Sixty-one (61) applicants through the BC PNP Tech Pilot.

The August 13 draw saw invitations to apply sent out across four categories to skilled workers and international graduates with experience in Twenty-Nine (29) target occupations.

Minimum scores were Ninety (90) for all four categories, the direct provincial and Express Entry categories that target skilled workers and international graduates.

The BC PNP Tech Pilot has been extended into 2020 after its first launch in 2017. It presently has a list of Twenty-Nine (29) target occupations with easy duration requirements.

BC PNP draws targeted specifically at technology workers began in May 2017. The province has a thriving technology sector with some reputable companies of the tech world basing themselves in BC.

BC PNP Tech Pilot Job Requirements

  • The job offer has to be for one of the Twenty- Nine (29) targeted occupations
  • The job offer has to be for at least one-year duration
  • The job offer has to be valid for a minimum of 120 days at the time of application

A coveted provincial nomination practically guarantees nomination under the Canada Express Entry System, worth 600 extra Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points.

The B.C. PNP announces the scores immigrants required to guarantee an invitation for Canada immigration under its programs.

The score required for an international graduate is Thirty (30) points below a skilled worker under both the Canada Express Entry and provincial category. For semi-skilled workers and entry-level and, that score is lower again.
